An Intimate Destination Wedding at Gleneagles Hotel

Set in the heart of Perthshire, a wedding at Gleneagles Hotel offers a refined setting where Scottish heritage and understated luxury are woven naturally into every part of the experience.
For Avery and Jack, travelling from the United States with their closest family, it was the perfect place to host a more intimate and meaningful celebration.
With just twenty guests, including seven children, their wedding felt deeply personal - less about scale, and more about experience, connection, and time spent together.
A Destination Wedding Shaped by Experience
The story of their wedding cake began months earlier, when Avery’s mother first got in touch after discovering my work.
Drawn to the emphasis on quality ingredients and thoughtful design, she reached out with a clear sense that every detail would be chosen with care for a smaller, more intimate celebration.
Avery had a clear vision for the cake from the outset, which allowed the design process to feel focused and intentional from the very beginning.
As plans unfolded, we arranged a private cake tasting to coincide with their visit to Gleneagles ahead of the wedding. A selection of cakes was prepared and delivered for Avery, her mother and sister to enjoy on arrival, giving them time to experience each flavour at their own pace
Working closely with the in-house team at Gleneagles Hotel, the tasting was seamlessly coordinated and served plated by the pastry team, reflecting the same level of care and attention that would carry through the rest of their plans.
They loved the cakes immediately, and the tasting became a meaningful part of their visit to Gleneagles ahead of the wedding.
A Relaxed and Intimate Wedding at Gleneagles
The celebrations began the evening before, with a relaxed gathering at the Shooting & Fishing Lodge, a more informal space set slightly apart from the main hotel, where guests could settle in and spend time together ahead of the wedding day.
The contrast between this cosy, wood-clad setting and the elegance of the hotel itself created a natural sense of flow across the celebration.

From what Avery shared in the lead-up to the wedding, the day had been thoughtfully planned to feel calm and unhurried. The morning was set aside for quieter moments, with time in the spa, a walk through the grounds, and a round of golf for Jack, before the celebrations continued with a later ceremony in one of the estate gardens.

An Intimate Wedding in The Parlour at Gleneagles
The wedding breakfast took place in The Parlour, a beautifully characterful space at the heart of the hotel.
With its grand portraits, antique furnishings and softly lit atmosphere, it offered a setting that felt both elegant and inviting, perfectly suited to a smaller gathering.
The room lent itself naturally to a long dining table, bringing everyone together around a single table and reinforcing the intimate feel of the day.

A Wedding Cake Designed for an Elegant Setting
The cake design reflected this same approach - understated, refined, and quietly contemporary.
Softly sculpted tiers introduced gentle movement, while the overall finish remained clean and minimal, allowing the design to sit effortlessly within the space.
Positioned on a crystal stand atop the Strathearn restaurant trolley, the cake became part of the setting itself, placed just behind the dining table in The Parlour, where it could be appreciated naturally throughout the evening.
In a venue like Gleneagles Hotel, placement and proportion play a quiet but important role. The cake didn’t compete for attention, but instead felt seamlessly integrated into the atmosphere of the room.

A Personal and Thoughtful Process
Throughout the process, there was a natural sense of trust and ease.
From the initial enquiry through to the design consultation, each decision was made collaboratively, with a clear sense of what would feel right for them.
It was especially lovely to meet Avery on the wedding day itself, even briefly, after months of planning together.

“I was so thrilled we got to meet even briefly! The cake was perfection - I cannot thank you enough truly.”
A Beautifully Intimate Wedding at Gleneagles
With a smaller guest list and a strong sense of intention behind every choice, it reflected a wedding that felt both elegant and deeply personal.
It’s often the more intimate celebrations that leave the most lasting impression.
