Frequently asked questions
I recommend securing your date as early as possible, ideally 9–12 months in advance. My diary does fill quickly, especially for peak summer weddings from April to September, and plenty of time is needed to schedule your cake tasting and design consultation, and to allow the creative process to unfold without rush.
I'm based in Dunkeld, Perthshire, which makes me perfectly situated to deliver my wedding cakes to local wedding venues, such as Cardney Steading, Dunkeld House Hotel, Murthly Castle, and Fonab Castle, as well as other wedding venues near Perth, including Murrayshall Country House Hotel, Forter Castle, Gleneagles and the Byre at Inchyra.
I'm also within easy reach of wedding venues in and around South Queensferry, just outside of Edinburgh, such as Dundas Castle, Hopetoun House, Barnbougle Castle and Carlowrie Castle, all of which are under one hour travel time from me to deliver your wedding cakes.
I'm happy to deliver my wedding cakes to throughout Perth and Kinross , Fife, Edinburgh, Stirlingshire and parts of the Scottish Highlands. Simply get in touch to enquire if I deliver to your wedding venue and I can give you a delivery charge quote.
Unfortunately, I do not currently offer egg-free or dairy-free cakes.
Upon request, I can bake certain cake flavours without gluten, however these may not be suitable for someone with a serious gluten allergy or coeliac disease, as there is always a risk of cross-contamination due to the fact that I regularly use wheat containing products in my kitchen.
Yes - wedding cake tasting is one of the most enjoyable parts of the journey. You’ll be able to sample a curated selection of flavours, or even opt for my bespoke tasting box service, giving you the opportunity to savour and choose the combinations that best reflect your tastes and style.
Each cake is designed and created bespoke, so pricing depends on the size, design, and level of detail involved. As a guide, my intimate wedding cakes begin from £350 for small weddings up to around 20 guests, with larger tiered cakes starting from £725. Your investment also includes the full experience: tasting, consultation, design, and seamless delivery to your venue.
I offer my luxury cake tasting boxes at intervals throughout the year. These are prioritised for existing bookings, but I sometimes offer these for sale as an opportunity for you to try my cakes before committing to a wedding cake booking. Please get in touch if you'd like to request to be added to my waiting list for one of these cake sample boxes.
Yes. I personally deliver and set up every cake at your venue, ensuring it is styled and displayed exactly as envisioned. This allows you to relax and enjoy your day knowing everything is taken care of.
Yes, I can create a cake design which incorporates fresh flowers. I usually recommend that these are ordered via your wedding florist to ensure that the cake is dressed in fresh flowers that match the rest of your wedding flowers and bridal bouquet etc.
Please note that some fresh flowers are not suitable for food contact. I can advise you on this and confirm which types of flowers are most suitable for cake decoration, but I also urge you discuss and confirm this personally with your wedding florist in advance too.
My cancellation policy is covered in my full terms and conditions of booking documentation, a copy of which will be sent to you in advance of paying your booking fee, and is also available on my website.
Absolutely. Every design is created to reflect your story, your style, and the atmosphere of your celebration. Whether inspired by your venue, florals, interiors, or fashion, I bring these details together in a way that feels timeless, refined, and uniquely yours. As long as you love my overall aesthetic and the fondant-finished artistry I specialise in, we’ll create something that feels truly personal while staying true to the Copper Rose style.
It's important to me that your cake is presented in the best way possible to give you and your guests the "wow factor" and make a real impact in your venue.
Some venues may offer use of a cake stand, however I urge you to request what this looks like and consider whether it is going to complement your cake design.
I have a collection of cake stands which I hire out to my wedding couples and I can discuss this with you during your consultation.
Cake stand hire costs between £25 and £30 depending on the stand, and an additional fully refundable security deposit is taken to cover the cost of the stand if it is damaged or isn't returned to me within 5 days of your wedding.
I specialise in fondant-finished cakes because it allows me to create the refined, textural, and timeless designs I’m known for. While I don’t offer buttercream or semi-naked cakes, my fondant cakes are always baked fresh, finished with high-quality ingredients, and designed to taste as exquisite as they look.
The cost of a wedding cake varies significantly depending on the size, number of portions, style and level of decoration. Semi-iced cakes with less decoration are typically at the lower end of the pricing scale, whilst you can expect to pay a lot more for a cake with lots of intricate design details or sugar flowers.
You can find out more about the factors affecting wedding cake pricing in my blog post entitled "How much does a wedding cake cost in Scotland".
As a guide, couples tend to spend between £650 and £850 for a 3-tier cake with some decoration and/or sugar flowers.
Please note I have a minimum order value of £650 for all new 2025 bookings.
More information about my wedding cake pricing can be found on the dedicated pricing page.
Tiered wedding cakes and cake decorations can be very fragile, which is why I prefer to deliver all of my cakes.
Some larger cakes may often require to be set-up in place at your wedding venue due to their size and weight.
The last thing you need to worry about on your wedding day is collecting and setting up your own wedding cake!
How much cake you need depends on how you are serving the cake.
Wedding cake portions are usually defined as finger portions to be served in the evening as part of the buffet, and are cut to approximately 1"x1"x6" tall. It is generally recommended to cater for approximately 75-80% of your wedding guests. That said, my couples have often told me that the cake was so thoroughly enjoyed by the guests that they didn't get any for themselves, and they regret not getting a slightly larger cake or extra tier to take home and enjoy after their wedding.
If the cake is being served in place of dessert immediately after the main course of your wedding meal, these portions are usually cut to double the size, to 2"x1"x6" tall, and it is wise to cater enough cake for all of your guests.
I can discuss this with you to help figure out exactly how much cake you need and whether this may affect the design proportions of your cake.
If you like the idea of a smaller, more intimate wedding cake style, but need more cake portions to serve, then I can also provide additional undecorated cutting cakes to be kept in the kitchen and served up by your caterers.
If you'd like a large centrepiece, showstopper wedding cake design, but don't actually need that many portions of cake to serve to your wedding guests, then faux tiers are definitely an option.
Please remember to consider that faux tiers still need to be purchased and then decorated in the same way as a real cake would, so although there may be a very small reduction in cost using faux tiers, it isn't a significant cost saving option for a wedding cake.
No, I operate my wedding cake business from my garden studio at my home premises near Dunkeld, not far from Perth, Scotland.
Absolutely, this is no problem at all. In fact, many of the couples I have worked with haven't even lived in Scotland, let alone in my local area.
There are various ways that we can approach your wedding cake booking and plan the details of your wedding cake, including via email, telephone, and video call. Also, if you happen to be coming to the local Perthshire area to perhaps visit your wedding venue or other wedding suppliers, then we can always arrange to meet up in person whilst you're here. If your venue isn't in my local area, that's not a problem either - I deliver my wedding cakes throughout a large part of Scotland.
So, if you're planning your dream destination wedding in Scotland from further afield in the UK, or even from abroad, then I'd love to hear from you.
My preferred medium to work with for covering and decorating my wedding cakes is sugarpaste, which lends itself best to the particular styles of cakes that I enjoy creating the most.
Although I have previously created buttercream cake designs, my experience has taught me that these cakes are a lot less stable in warm environments and can also pose additional challenges for travelling with in warmer weather, hence I no longer offer fully buttercream covered cakes. If you have seen a particular buttercream cake design that you like, I may be able to come up with something in a similar style in a ganache finish instead of buttercream - contemporary abstract designs are a perfect example of this scenario, and ganache cakes are much more stable than buttercream finished cakes.
Semi-naked or semi-iced cakes are slightly different , and I do still currently accept some bookings for these during the cooler winter months to some of my more local wedding venues.
If in any doubt, don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss your initial ideas with me.
Yes! I offer a selection of equally delicious wedding favours for you to treat your guests, including handmade chocolate bonbons, Belgian chocolate truffles, French macarons, gourmet marshmallow and old-fashioned crumbly style fudge and Scottish tablet.
I recommend securing your date as early as possible, ideally 9–12 months in advance.
